1955

Osman Torun moved to Istanbul and became a business partner of the tea shop in Atil Han (Atil Inn). 3 years later his eldest son, Aziz Torun, also moved to Istanbul. He was only 8 years old when he started to help his father in the business and went to school at the same time.

1960

Kamer Torun, the wife of Osman Torun, and her youngest son Mehmet Torun also moved to Istanbul. Later that same year their first grocery shop was opened in Mercan Slope. Two years later Osman Torun took over the whole grocery shop where he used to be a business partner before.

1980

During the 80’s, The Toruns’ wholesale trade activities started in Unkapani. They also started to do construction business.

1986

Torunlar Food Co. and Torunlar Construction Inc. were established.

1991

Rice was imported from Thailand for the first time. Also sugar was imported for the first time.

1994

Sugar was exported to Azerbaijan, Iran, North Iraq, Georgia, Romania and Bulgaria. Rice and enamel paper was imported from the United States. Before the end of the year Torun Paper Co. was founded.

1996

Torunlar started to operate in tea industry and Torun Tea Co. was founded.

1997

Toray Construction Inc. was founded and following that the construction of Bursa Zafer Plaza started. In the same year Torunlar became the shareholder of Yeni Gimat Isyerleri Isletmesi A S, the owner of Ankamall and The Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ankara.

1999

Bursa Zafer Plaza was opened.

2000

By the beginning of the new millenium, rice factories were opened in Uzunkopru, Bandirma and Mersin.

2004

Afyon Ozcicek Vegetable Oil Factory was established. Oil-processing plants were opened in Adana. Kutahya Sugar Factory was taken over from the Privatization Administration. Antalya Deepo Outlet Center was opened.

2005

A cube-sugar producing factory was opened within the Kutahya Sugar Factory. The joint venture of Marmaris Netsel Marina has started.

2007

Apartments were delivered to customers in Bursa Korupark residential complex. Korupark Shopping Mall was opened. In the same year, the land of Mall of Istanbul in Mahmutbey was purchased and the project development plans have started.

2008

Bandirma Vegatable Oil Factory was founded. Trade name of Toray Construction was changed as Torunlar REIC. The construction of Torium Shopping Mall project has started in Istanbul. The Nishistanbul project has started as well.

2010

Torunlar REIC completed its public offering process. On the first day of public trade, it ranked as the 47th biggest company. Torium Shopping Mall was opened. Project development plans started within the joint venture project of the Ali Sami Yen Stadium land.

2011

Mall of Istanbul residence sales have started. Construction of Torun Tower has started in Zincirlikuyu, Esentepe.
